The former president decided to come out of his bunker last Wednesday and publicly endorse 81-candidates running across America in various state and federal elections – which included more than a half-dozen of Obama’s former political cronies.
Interestingly enough, Obama did not endorse the new “SUPERSTAR” OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, the self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who beat the 4th most powerful Democrat within the party, Joe Crowley, in a historic upset primary victory in New York.
So why wouldn’t Obama endorse this rising voice within the Democratic Party…what gives?
If there’s one thing we’ve come to learn from the former Chicago community organizer turned president, it is that he’s a cleverly surreptitious and unethical individual who relishes in controlling events without being detected — using the media as a conduit.
Obama by all reasoned logic is the “emotional head” of the Democratic Party and by not publicly endorsing Cortez (who doesn’t need his endorsement ), he’s sending a clear message through the media that Democrats should stay clear of being identified as “socialists” or using “abolishing ICE” as a campaign issue in the fall.
Among Obama’s most prominent endorsements was Gavin Newsom for governor of California, Stacey Abrams for governor of Georgia and Jacky Rosen, the Democrat running against incumbent Republican Sen. Dean Heller in Nevada.
“I am proud to endorse such a wide and impressive array of Democratic candidates, leaders as diverse, patriotic, and big-hearted as the Americans they’re running to represent,” Obama said in a statement on Wednesday. “I’m confident that, together, they’ll strengthen this country we love by restoring opportunity that’s broadly shared, repairing our alliances and standing in the world, and upholding our fundamental commitment to justice, fairness, responsibility and the rule of law.”
However, Obama’s strategy may have backfired.
In fact, he endorsed a Democratic congressional candidate from New Mexico who may have unknowingly blindsided the “puppet-master” himself by calling for the abolishment of ICE only hours after the Obama endorsement.
In an email sent to Fox News, Debra Haaland said she was “deeply troubled” by what she described as Trump’s “efforts to dehumanize and hurt immigrants — from caging small children to arresting parents outside of churches and banning people from our country based on their religion.”
Adding “I have called for abolishing ICE because it is not living up to its mission,” Haaland went on. “The violence and terror ICE promotes must stop and we need to hold this out-of-control agency accountable.”
Perhaps to “add-insult-to-injury” the former chairwoman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico, tweeted out after the Obama endorsement, “Thank you so much President Obama! … Your endorsement means [the] world to me.”
Once Obama’s name was publicly linked through his endorsement of Debra Haaland, calling for the abolishment of ICE, the Democratic Party became the party officially advocating for the elimination of the nations’ top law enforcement agency — tasked with the responsibility of protecting America from the violent Mexican and South American drug gangs and potential terrorists infiltrating the homeland through our border.
In the coming months look for the Trump Administration to brand Obama and the Democratic Party as the “PARTY EMBRACING SOCIALISM” and for headlines reading “OBAMA DEMOCRATS LOOKING TO ABOLISH ICE.”
It appears what started out as a brilliant counter-move by Obama against President Trump’s effective rallies, may have in fact backfired!
