ET phone home!
Those were the iconic words of the tiny space alien stranded on Earth in the 1982 blockbuster science-fiction classic E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
However the 1982 film classic might not actually be science-fiction after all. In fact, a NASA scientist believes we may have already been visited by aliens.
Silvano P. Colombano a computer scientist at NASA Ames Research Center is convinced we’re not alone and theorizes that intelligent life may not be what we expect it to be. That the traditional building blocks that make-up humanities DNA may be different.
In his newly researched papers, Colombano writes, “I simply want to point out the fact that the intelligence we might find and that might choose to find us (if it hasn’t already) might not be at all be produced by carbon-based organisms like us.”
Adding, “So if extraterrestrials are not carbon-based, what does that do to our assumptions about what to look for?”
“Our typical life-spans would no longer be a limitation (although even these could be dealt with multi-generational missions or suspended animation), and the size of the ‘explorer’ might be that of an extremely tiny super-intelligent entity.”
Colombano also reasons that extraterrestrials may have achieved a high degree of technology, surpassing anything on Earth, such as interstellar travel. “If we adopt a new set of assumptions about what forms of higher intelligence and technology we might find, some of those phenomena might fit specific hypotheses, and we could start some serious inquiry,” he suggested.
However, science has long concluded that interstellar travel could be “an unbreakable barrier, over spans of thousands of years.” Colombano also surmised that interstellar journey could be possible depending on what we as humans, assume about various forms of life.
Colombano went on to explain, “Considering further that technological development in our civilization started only about 10,000 years ago and has seen the rise of scientific methodologies only in the past 500 years, we can surmise that we might have a real problem in predicting technological evolution even for the next thousand years, let alone 6 Million times that amount!”
Adding, not every UFO sighting can be “explained or denied.”
Case in point; just recently NASA announced a mysterious interstellar object spotted in our solar system measuring approximately 400 meters (1,312 feet) in length and 40 meters (131 feet) wide and described as a “metallic or rocky object.”
Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics suggested it could be “a light-sail of artificial origin” sent from another civilization.
Researches studying the strange anomaly posted their findings online, “excess acceleration” could be artificial, as it has been implied that it is not an active comet.
Adding, “Considering an artificial origin, one possibility is that ‘Oumuamua’ (the first known interstellar visitor to our Solar System), is a light-sail, floating in interstellar space as debris from advanced technological equipment,” researchers speculate.
“Light-sails with similar dimensions have been designed and constructed by our own civilization, including the IKAROS project and the Star-shot Initiative. The light-sail technology might be abundantly used for transportation of cargos between planets or between stars.”
However, this is where the scientific mumbo-jumbo gets interesting, as researchers theorize that Oumuamua “may be a fully operational probe sent intentionally to Earth vicinity by an alien civilization,” though that scenario was called “exotic.”
