It would appear by the looks of things, the Democratic Party has once again captured the imagination of the KKK — or at least from former Grand Wizard David Duke.
In fact, Duke praised Rep. Ilhan Omar on Thursday calling the Somali born Muslim the “Most Important Member of Congress.”
Duke posted a photo of Omar with an attached graphic icon of a smiley face covered with hearts above his tweet “Dr. Duke & Eric Striker: By Defiance to Z.O.G. Ilhan Omar is NOW the most important Member of the US Congress!”
The unabashed racist, white supremacist, and Holocaust denier also praised Omar on his podcast for being “the one person in Congress willing to notice AIPAC and the ‘dual’ loyalty of many (((members of Congress))).”
The three parentheses around the words “members of Congress,” is an alt-right anti-Semitic trope used to identify and demonize people who are Jewish.
There’s little doubt that Duke’s public endorsement of Omar’s anti-Semitic views have Democrats concerned, worried and conflicted especially after the ambivalent Resolution passed ignoring Omar’s history of vilifying Jews dating back to 2012.
Ironically Dukes anti-Semitic rants actually mirror that of Omar’s stating in November of 2005 in Syria, during an anti-Israeli rally, referencing Israel as a “war-mongering country” and then stating Jews “occupy most of the American media and now control much of the American government.”
To make matters even more interesting regarding the tightrope Democrats now find themselves on, all the leading 2020 Democratic presidential candidates have joined the former GRAND WIZARD in support of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and are actually attempting to redefine Omar’s anti-Semitic words, declaring that her statements do not constitute anti-Semitism.
Moreover, the leading 2020 Democratic presidential candidates have all come out in force to support Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) after her latest round of anti-Semitic remarks.
Democratic front runner Bernie Sanders even attempted to whitewash Omar’s anti-Semitic remarks by making her the victim within this folly stating, “Anti-Semitism is a hateful and dangerous ideology which must be vigorously opposed in the United States and around the world. We must not, however, equate anti-Semitism with legitimate criticism of the right-wing, Netanyahu government in Israel. Rather, we must develop an even-handed Middle East policy which brings Israelis and Palestinians together for a lasting peace.”
Adding, “What I fear is going on in the House now is an effort to target Congresswoman Omar as a way of stifling that debate. That’s wrong.”
However when it comes to the State of Israel, Sanders has a checkered past, in his early twenties, Sanders spent several months in Israel working on a kibbutz.
However years later the self-proclaimed Democratic/Socialist honeymooned in Russia, and spoke very little about the conflict between Israel and Palestine, until a town hall meeting in 2014 when confronted by a Jewish voter regarding the senator’s position concerning Israel, and why he abstained on voting on Senate Resolution 498, which expressed support for Israel defending itself against “unprovoked rocket attacks” from Hamas. Sanders was one of the 21 members who didn’t sign the unanimously passed resolution.
Sadly like many of his progressive Jewish counterparts in the Senate, Sanders is a Jew in name only, aligning himself with someone who has demonstrated countless times her anti-Semitic views.
Perhaps the most idiotic remark concerning the split within the Democratic Party came from South Carolina Democratic House Majority Whip James Clyburn who also came to the defense of the freshmen Minnesota legislator on Wednesday, with the most offensive and asinine remark to date.
Suggesting that Omar’s experiences are “more personal” than children of Holocaust survivors.
Adding, “I’m serious about that. There are people who tell me, ‘Well, my parents are Holocaust survivors.’ ‘My parents did this.’ It’s more personal with her. I’ve talked to her, and I can tell you she is living through a lot of pain.”
If this incident has taught us anything, its how someone with hateful views can suddenly become the victim, in the wonderful wacky world of progressive politics.
