Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz on Sunday called for a federal investigation against progressive Portland, Oregon, Mayor Ted Wheeler, for allowing the beat down of a conservative journalist by Antifa thugs, while attempting to cover a protest.
“To federal law enforcement: investigate & bring legal action against a Mayor who has, for political reasons, ordered his police officers to let citizens be attacked by domestic terrorists,” Mr. Cruz tweeted.
Independent Journalist Andy Ngo has been covering left-wing extremist protests for various media outlets for quite a while, usually embedding himself within the chaos, rather than from a safe vantage point or perhaps the lofty perch of a newsroom. His job is covering the angry mob of radical leftist protesters, usually being rowdy, noisy, disorderly, and occasionally confrontational with bystanders watching the controlled mayhem unfolding.
Ngo is no stranger to extremist groups like Antifa, and although he’s been repeatedly threatened, pushed and shoved, he’s been extremely lucky that these thugs haven’t attacked him, that is until Saturday afternoon when suddenly the wolf pack of thugs turned their fury on the 33-year year conservative journalist and began to beat and kick him for no apparent reason other then reporting accurately what has been taking place in the city of Portland within recent years, which has become a haven for unrestricted violent protests complements of Mayor Ted Wheeler, along with the Portland Police Department.
The troubling and graphic video clip of Saturday afternoons protest shows Ngo suddenly being pounced on by a number of masked protesters, first spaying him with an abrasive substance, then being kicked in the stomach as he attempts to stagger away holding his bruised and bloody face, the assault continues as Ngo leaves the protest site with another masked thug running behind him throwing an object that hits him in the back of the head.
After the vicious assault on Ngo, a visibly angry Cruz called for a federal investigation on Wheeler who has a long history of protecting Antifa thugs.
A year or so ago Wheeler came under fire when a video clip showed Antifa protesters blocking traffic and street intersections, refusing to allow vehicles to pass while harassing and in one instant threatening an elderly motorist.
Kent Houser, the 74-year-old motorist made a right turn against the wishes of an Antifa thug, who began pounding violently on Houser’s expensive silver Lexus, denting the auto while breaking a window in the process. The auto according to a local news outlet “The Oregonian” sustained thousands of dollars in damages.
Remarkably the Portland Police were nowhere to be found regarding the incident and what transpired that Saturday afternoon.
In fact, Wheeler continually supports the decision by his police department not to enforce the law, while actually witnessing the bedlam from a safe distance away.
Ironically that incident last year was also videotaped and chronicled by Ngo exposing both the Mayor and the Portland Police Department not enforcing the law, and the mayor abdicating his responsibility as the chief executive of the city, which in fact may be the motive behind Saturday’s attack on the conservative journalist.
According to a police department statement released last year, Portland police then made no arrests during the bloody melee, even though “officers observed people in possession of hard-knuckled gloves, firearms, batons, and knives. Officers also observed people using pepper spray.”
It now appears likely that Ngo was purposely targeted for reporting on past Antifa demonstrations and in particular last year’s violent confrontation with Portland citizens, while the police sat on their hands and allowed the mayhem to continue without intervening, perhaps at the mayor’s direction.
Soon after Ngo was assaulted he tweeted out what had happened
“Attacked by Antifa. Bleeding. They stole my camera equipment. No police until after. waiting for an ambulance. If you have evidence Of attack please help”

In another tweet, “On way to the hospital, was beat on the face and head multiple times in downtown in the middle of the street with fists and weapons. Suspects at large.”

But even before they attacked him, he documented the public threats to his safety:
I am nervous about tomorrow’s Portland Antifa rally. They’re promising “physical confrontation” & have singled me out to be assaulted. I went on Tucker Carlson last year to explain why I think they’re doing this: They’re seeking meaning through violence.”

Obviously, the Justice Department needs to quickly look into what’s going on in Portland, Oregon before someone gets seriously injured or worse yet killed.
Do you think the Justice Department should immediately begin an investigation into how Portland, Oregon, Mayor Ted Wheeler’s handling of the domestic terrorist group Antifa?
