Rather than confronting their so-called “ace-reporter” in a timely manner (regarding an incident that took place on August 3rd) CNN decided to wait 23-days for Ryan to apparently get her story straight, before finally deciding to go public to address the issue.
The incident which was captured on video shows Ryan’s bodyguard forcibly manhandling a local reporter who was allegedly invited to an education summit in New Jersey where Ryan was to speak.
The well-known author and CNN reporter, who usually covers the White House, was invited to speak in New Jersey, at an education summit at the Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick.
Also attending the event was Charlie Kratovil, founder, and editor of “New Brunswick Today,” a well known and popular regional magazine.
Kratovil claimed he went through the legal requirements as a journalist in obtaining the proper credentials along with getting permission from the hotel, to cover the event.
However, when Ryan took to the podium and was about to speak, Ryan’s bodyguard a chap named Joel Morris approached Kratovil disputing his press credentials.
Moreover, before the actual physical confrontation, Kratovil had been at the event for more than an hour recording the proceedings without incident, until Rep. Donald Payne Jr. (D-N.J.) began introducing Ryan. At that point, the 30-year old bodyguard approached Kratovil, mentioned the video setup and asked, “Who are you with?” Moments later, he threatened to “take down” the video camera.
The threat from Morris seemed to coincide with Ryan’s appearance at the podium. Kratovil said. Public relations reps crowded around him, “pressuring me to stop recording.”
Morris then approaches Ryan who has stopped speaking; she glances over at Kratovil and then gives her bodyguard a nod. There’s an awkward 30-second pause before Ryan announces to the audience “When I speak, I do not have news covering my speeches.”
Suddenly Morris springs into action reaching for Kratovil’s video equipment; Kratovil exclaims “Don’t touch my camera, please. Don’t touch my camera, please. Put that down. Don’t you dare? Put that down, sir. That’s my camera!”
The melee continues with both Kratovil and Morris tugging at the equipment as they aggressively move out of the ballroom towards the exit doors.
Kratovil states once he’s near the exit door “Morris begins assaulting me without provocation in the lobby & continued his assault as he forced me out of the building,” Kratovil said on Twitter. “I screamed and used some profane language towards Mr. Morris as he grabbed my left arm and twisted it behind my back, injuring my forearm and shoulder.”
Aside from the obvious irony and hypocrisy, of a well known and celebrated journalist giving the hit-sign to her bodyguard, to violently take out a fellow journalist is astounding, however even more remarkable, no one in the news business actually reported on the incident, let alone followed up on the particulars.
Which tells me CNN and the media in general, either covered-up the incident or the entire mainstream press knew nothing of the dust-up, which is highly unlikely.
Thus after 23-days of silence from April Ryan, she finally spoke, throwing her bodyguard under the bus, claiming she knows nothing of the incident because she was onstage.
“At that moment, what you saw was my then-bodyguard, who was concerned with my safety, come to me and say, ‘Stop talking,’” the White House reporter said after her interviewer, CNN’s Brian Stelter, played the clip of the altercation. Ryan added that Morris and Kratovil were “about 100 feet away from me, I didn’t know what was going on or what was being said.”
Ryan claimed Sunday on CNN that the Aug. 3rd episode was the fault of an overeager and since-fired bodyguard named Joel Morris.
“I did not order anyone to do anything,” Ryan said, adding, “I was on the stage at the time.”
Ryan, as we’ve come to know, is the same White House reporter who has implied time and again that President Trump along with the entire White House staff are racists, she has also suggested along with fellow CNN reporter Jim Acosta that the President was guilty of Russian collusion, by propagating a false narrative for well over 3-years.
