Three days ago, on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, Congressional House Speaker and Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced the launch of a formal impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. The Democrats have been weighing the pros and cons of trying to oust the Commander-in-Chief from the Oval Office since his election in November 2016.
Inquisitor and former FBI director Robert Mueller failed to prove any collusion or election tampering between Trump and Russian agents. Now, the House Speaker claims she is merely responding to pressure from her compatriots, the American liberal left, by deciding to waste more taxpayer resources by pursuing another fruitless course of legal action.
Pelosi announced she has directed “our six committees to proceed with their investigations under that umbrella of impeachment inquiry.” The six committees are Judiciary, Intelligence, Oversight, Finance, Ways and Means, and Foreign Affairs.
The party of sore losers is attempting to overthrow the current administration based on an intelligence community whistleblower complaint that charges Trump, in a July phone call, urged the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky to conduct a secret corruption investigation into Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
The whistleblower also alleged that Trump threatened to stall hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid earmarked for Ukraine in order to force the Ukrainian leader to agree.
Pelosi announced on Tuesday:
“This week the president has admitted to asking the president of Ukraine to take actions which would benefit him politically. The actions of the Trump presidency revealed the dishonorable fact of the president’s betrayal of his oath of office, betrayal of our national security and betrayal of the integrity of our elections.”
After the White House refused to provide the complete transcript of that conversation, Pelosi said Trump “must be held accountable” for his actions which constitute “a violation of the law.”
Trump responded by tweeting a message that a “complete, fully declassified and unredacted transcript” of the July phone call would be made available to the public.
The Democratic House Speaker then demanded more than the complete transcript, insisting that the complete complaint be furnished when the acting director of national intelligence, Joseph Maguire, testified yesterday, September 26, at a hearing by the House Intelligence Committee.
Trump’s accused his political opponents of “PRESIDENTIAL HARRASSMENT” and tweeted this response:
“They never even saw the transcript of the call. A total Witch Hunt!”
Pelosi has reversed her former position that pursuing a presidential impeachment would divide the country, undermine her party’s political agenda, and alienate swing voters in hotly-contested districts, including those represented by freshman representatives, including “the Squad.”
In a series of heated tweets, Trump accused Pelosi of sidetracking national attention away from his positive contributions at the time of his keynote address before the United Nations General Assembly:
“Such an important day at the United Nations, so much work and so much success, and the Democrats purposely had to ruin and demean it with more breaking news Witch Hunt garbage. So bad for our Country!”
Investor response to the Democrats’ threat was negative as the S&P dropped 0.8% after the news was released.
Brad Parscale, Trump’s campaign manager, interpreted the Democrats’ ploy in an official statement:
“Democrats can’t beat President Trump on his policies or his stellar record of accomplishment, so they’re trying to turn a Joe Biden scandal into a Trump problem. The misguided Democrat impeachment strategy is meant to appease their rabid, extreme, leftist base, but will only serve to embolden and energize President Trump’s supporters and create a landslide victory for the President.”
Some Democrats also believe that Pelosi is endangering a 2020 win. Pinellas County, Florida, resident Richard Sibilla, who supported Hillary Clinton in 2016, worried:
“After this, he [Trump] has a much better chance of winning another election, as scary as that sounds. It’s not even worth following because it’s all going to help him.”
In fact, Pelosi’s impeachment inquiry announcement has been great for the Republican campaign coffers. Parscale reported a surge in contributions, “to the tune of $5 million in one day.”
This “huge groundswell of support” in the form of election donations are coming in from all 50 states and demonstrate how the Democrat strategy has backfired. According to Infowars, the conservative news outlet banned from social media and financial platforms by controlling liberals:
“The impeachment move collapsed into ridiculousness Wednesday when it emerged that the so-called whistleblower, who alleged that Trump pressured Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, was found by the intelligence community Inspector General to have ‘political bias’ and was in favor of a ‘rival candidate’ for US president.”
Furthermore, the whistleblower’s lawyer, Andrew Bakaj, “interned for [Chuck] Schumer in the spring of 2001 and for [Hillary] Clinton in the fall of the same year.”
The transcript of the July phone call indicated that Trump did not, in fact, pressure Zelensky at all. The Ukrainian president confirmed two days ago that “nobody pushed me.”
Pelosi is forging ahead with her party’s impeachment investigation even though she admitted to not bothering to read the complete transcript she demanded to see.
Yesterday, House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, displayed his political bias by passing judgment before reviewing all the evidence, using language reminiscent of the lengthy, expensive, and inconclusive Mueller Report:
“The President of the United States has betrayed his oath of office, betrayed his oath to defend our national security, and betrayed his oath to defend our constitution.”
On the same day, September 26, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Trump said the tattletale intelligence officer was “almost a spy” and hinted that his actions were high crimes against the nation:
“You know what we used to do in the old days when we were smart? Right? The spies and treason, we used to handle it a little differently than we do now.”
